Ezra is a character played by Wallace Shawn in the 2003 film.
Biography[]
Ezra was a footman of Gracey Manor who was married to the maid, Emma. After they died, their ghosts haunted the mansion. Eventually, the curse upon the house was broken, and Ezra ascended to Heaven with the rest of the spirits.
Trivia[]
- The name of Ezra was inspired by the Ghost Gallery name for the Skeleton Hitchhiking Ghost figure, although they are quite separate characters, the Skeleton making a distinct appearance in the movie. Confusingly, the Skeleton is named Phineas in Build Your Own Haunted Mansion, a hardcover children's activity book that was released while the film was in cinemas.
- A tombstone with the name Ezra debuted in 2011 at Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion. Contrary to some people's belief, it is most likely not a reference to this movie character, but to the Hitchhiking Ghost of the same name, supported by its proximity to tombstones for Phineas and Gus.
